Three years after her relationship with Giovanni ended, Monica finds herself in prison due to the criminal activities of her sisters. To avoid disappointing her son, she reaches out to Giovanni, a wealthy man with influential connections who is now involved in a cultural project with a woman named Camilla. Giovanni uses his political ties to secure Monica a sentence of community service at a parish located near his project. As Monica and Giovanni are brought back into each other's lives, they navigate their social differences and a series of complications while developing a romantic connection. Meanwhile, their children, Agnese and Alessio, encounter one another by chance in London.
