Rabat

Three young men of Moroccan descent who live in the Netherlands set off on a road trip to deliver an old Mercedes taxi. One of them has been asked by his father to bring the car to a family friend in Rabat, and his two closest friends invite themselves along for the ride. What begins as a straightforward errand turns into a far more complicated journey as the trio crosses Europe, passing through Belgium, France and Spain before reaching Morocco. Rabat is a drama about their encounters and disagreements along the way.

The film was released in 2011 and runs 105 minutes. It was directed by Jim Taihuttu, who also wrote the screenplay with Victor D. Ponten; Julius Ponten and Frieder Wallis produced it. Taihuttu's later directing work includes The East (2021) and Hardcore Never Dies (2023). The leading roles are played by Nasrdin Dchar as Nadir, Achmed Akkabi as Abdel and Marwan Kenzari as Zakaria, with supporting turns from Slimane Dazi, Nadia Kounda and Mohamed Benbrahim.

Audience response has been modest but clearly positive: on IMDb it holds a rating of 7.1 out of 10 from roughly 2,400 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6.5 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 26 votes.
