The Speech

Adrien is a neurotic 35-year-old man experiencing a mid-life crisis. While attending a tedious family dinner, he struggles with the silence of his girlfriend, Sonia, who has requested a break in their relationship and is not responding to his messages. The situation worsens when he is asked by his future brother-in-law to write and deliver a speech for his sister's upcoming wedding. A man who dislikes public speaking and marriage, Adrien must navigate these familial tensions and his own anxieties without causing a scene.

Directed and written by Laurent Tirard, this French comedy was released in 2020. It follows his previous work, Return of the Hero, and precedes his 2023 film Oh My Goodness!. The movie stars Benjamin Lavernhe as Adrien, alongside Sara Giraudeau, Kyan Khojandi, Julia Piaton, François Morel, and Guilaine Londez.
