Ferry is a crime drama that serves as a prequel to the Belgian television series Undercover, following the character Ferry Bouman before he became a major drug lord. In 2006, Ferry works in Amsterdam for the criminal Ralph Brink, a mentor figure whose empire he helps maintain. When the gang is hit by a robbery that leaves Ralph's son badly injured, Ferry is sent to track down those responsible. The trail leads him back to the Brabant region he left long ago, where he must face his estranged family, the nomadic life he once knew, and Danielle, a neighbour he grows close to. As the investigation continues, these encounters test his loyalty to Ralph and reshape his life in ways he did not expect.
The film is directed by Cecilia Verheyden, with a screenplay by Nico Moolenaar and Bart Uytdenhouwen. Frank Lammers leads as Ferry Bouman, a role he originated in the series, alongside Elise Schaap, Huub Stapel, Monic Hendrickx, Raymond Thiry and Maarten Heijmans. It runs 106 minutes and is a Dutch and Belgian production from De Mensen. It marks the first feature in Verheyden's directing career, ahead of her later film Skiff.
Audiences have responded favourably: on IMDb it holds a 7 out of 10 from around 15,000 votes, showing a solid following, while on TMDB it has a 6.8 from roughly 300 votes. The relatively small vote count there, compared with the larger IMDb sample, suggests the film found its widest audience through the series' existing fanbase.
