Tanner Hall is a 2011 American drama set at an elite all-girls boarding school in New England. Four students navigate their final year: Fernanda, the responsible and studious one; Kate, confident and adventurous; Lucasta, less traditionally feminine than her classmates; and Victoria, a manipulative newcomer who was once Fernanda's childhood friend before a falling-out. Victoria quickly charms Fernanda's closest friends and turns each of them to her own purposes, unsettling the group's loyalties. Meanwhile, the girls confront the complications of growing up, including romantic entanglements—Fernanda with an older man, Gio, and Kate with a member of the school staff. In this English-language drama, the arrival of Victoria brings the tensions among the four friends to the surface.
The film was directed by Francesca Gregorini and Tatiana von Fürstenberg, who also wrote the screenplay together and produced it with Julie Snyder. It was the first feature Gregorini directed, followed by The Truth About Emanuel in 2013 and Hurricanna in 2025. Rooney Mara plays Fernanda, Georgia King plays Victoria, Brie Larson plays Kate, and Amy Ferguson plays Lucasta, with Tom Everett Scott as Gio and Amy Sedaris as Mrs. Middlewood among the 27 credited cast members. Produced by Voltage Pictures with a runtime of 96 minutes, it earned a 3.9 out of 10 from 19 critics' reviews, while audiences on TMDB rate it 5.6 out of 10 from around 130 votes—both modest, with critics the harsher of the two.
