Tru Confessions

Trudy Walker is a teenage girl unhappy with her home life. Her father is always busy with work, her mother rarely takes her side, and her twin brother Eddie has a mental disability that she finds difficult and embarrassing to deal with. Encouraged by her friends, Trudy enters a contest run by a television network, hoping to win her own show and a taste of the fame she has always wanted.

Her first attempt at a show goes badly, and she comes to see that honesty works better than a polished performance. She turns her camera on Eddie, making a documentary about him, and the project becomes a way to understand her brother better and to reconnect with her parents. Clara Bryant plays Trudy, with Shia LaBeouf as Eddie, and Mare Winningham as Ginny; William Francis McGuire and Nicole Dicker also appear among the 27 credited cast members.

The film was directed by Paul Hoen and written by Janet Tashjian and Stu Krieger. It is the second of 16 films Hoen directed, following The Luck of the Irish in 2001 and preceding You Wish! in 2003. A Disney television production running 83 minutes, it drew a solid response from viewers, with a 7.3 rating on IMDb from 3,600 votes and a 6.9 on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes.
