Tetris

Tetris dramatizes the true story of Henk Rogers, an American video game entrepreneur who comes across the puzzle game Tetris in 1988 and becomes determined to secure the rights and bring it to players worldwide. His efforts take him into the Soviet Union, where he meets the game's creator, Alexey Pajitnov, and finds himself navigating a tangle of competing claims, deceit and corruption behind the Iron Curtain, with the future of the game hanging on negotiations conducted under Cold War pressure.

The film is directed by Jon S. Baird, whose earlier features include Cass, Filth and Stan & Ollie; it sits between those and Everything's Going to Be Great in his filmography. Noah Pink wrote the screenplay, and Matthew Vaughn, Gillian Berrie and Claudia Schiffer produced. Taron Egerton leads the cast as Rogers, with Nikita Efremov as Pajitnov, Sofia Lebedeva as Sasha, Anthony Boyle as Kevin Maxwell, Ben Miles as Howard Lincoln and Ken Yamamura as Minoru Arakawa. It runs 118 minutes and was made in the United Kingdom by Marv, AI Film, Unigram and Cloudy Productions.

Released in March 2023, the film drew a 7.4 rating on IMDb from roughly 106,000 votes and a 7.8 on TMDB from about 2,000 votes, indicating solid approval from those who watched it. A critics' rating of 6.7 from 188 reviews places professional assessments somewhat below the audience scores.
