Short description
Set in South Korea in the 1980s, Hunt follows two senior intelligence officials, Park Pyong-ho of the foreign unit and Kim Jung-do of the domestic unit. After a high-ranking North Korean official seeks asylum, the two men are separately ordered to track down a deeply placed North Korean agent going by the name Donglim. As classified information begins to leak and national security is threatened, each unit is told to investigate the other, turning the two chiefs into mutual suspects.
The film is Lee Jung-jae's first turn as a director, a role he also takes on as co-writer and producer, with Jo Seung-hee sharing the screenplay credit. Lee and Jung Woo-sung lead the cast as the two rival agents, supported by Jeon Hye-jin, Heo Sung-tae and Go Youn-jung, in a production credited to 69 cast and 58 crew members. Made for a budget of roughly 17 million US dollars, it was released in August 2022 and runs 131 minutes, mixing action, drama and mystery.
Audience response to the film is modest but positive: on IMDb and on TMDB, viewers rate it around the middle of the scale over a few hundred votes on each platform, suggesting a film that found a settled, if not unanimous, reception rather than a breakout hit.

- The film does not claim to be historically accurate, although it is based on real events—the 1983 assassination attempt on the President of South Korea in Burma.
