Carrie

Carrie White is a shy teenager with no social life, excluded by her classmates and dominated at home by her deeply religious mother. Her isolation is broken when a fellow student invites her to the senior prom, an invitation she accepts with joy, only to find that it is part of a cruel setup. Carrie has discovered that she can move objects with her mind, and the humiliation at the dance pushes her to use that power against those who have tormented her. The story follows Sue Snell, who comes to regret her part in the events, and Miss Desjarden, a teacher who tries to protect Carrie.

This 2002 television production is a new adaptation of Stephen King's novel. David Carson directed it after Star Trek: Generations and Letters from a Killer, and before Unstoppable. Angela Bettis plays Carrie, with Patricia Clarkson as her mother, Rena Sofer as Miss Desjarden, Kandyse McClure as Sue Snell, Emilie de Ravin as Christine Hargenson and Tobias Mehler as Tommy Ross. Twenty-seven cast members and fifty-three crew members are credited.

Made for five million dollars across Canada and the United States, the film runs 132 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4 from around 13,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 6.2 from roughly 578 votes. The two scores are close, with the smaller TMDB group judging it somewhat more favorably than the larger IMDb audience.
