Anything for Jackson

Anything for Jackson follows Henry and Audrey Walsh, a grieving older couple whose daughter and young grandson, Jackson, have died in a car accident. Steeped in Satanic belief, they become convinced that an ancient spellbook offers a way to bring the boy back by placing his spirit inside an unborn child. To that end they abduct Shannon Becker, a pregnant woman, and hold her in their home while preparing the ritual. Their grasp of the occult is far weaker than their conviction, and the ceremony draws unwanted presences into the house instead of the grandson they intended to recover.

The film was directed by Justin G. Dyck, whose previous features, made in the years just before it, were largely Christmas and romance titles. Keith Cooper wrote the screenplay, and both men produced alongside Bill Marks. Sheila McCarthy and Julian Richings play Audrey and Henry, with Konstantina Mantelos as Shannon, Josh Cruddas as Ian, Yannick Bisson as Rory and Lanette Ware as Detective Bellows. It runs 96 minutes and was released in 2020.

Its reception places it toward the higher end of recent horror among critics: a critics' rating of 7.4/10 from 62 reviews, against 6.3/10 on IMDb from around 13,000 votes and 6.7/10 on TMDB from roughly 300 votes.
