Broker

Broker follows two men who run an illegal adoption operation in South Korea. Sang-hyun, who owns a laundromat and volunteers at a church, works with his friend Dong-soo, who erases the church's surveillance footage whenever a baby is left in its baby box. The pair then arrange to sell the infants to couples seeking to adopt. When a young mother, So-young, returns after leaving her newborn and learns what the men are doing, she insists on accompanying them as they set out to meet prospective parents. Meanwhile, two detectives have been tracking the operation and follow the group as they travel across the country.

Hirokazu Kore-eda wrote and directed the film, his twelfth in chronological order, arriving after The Truth and before Monster. Song Kang-ho plays Sang-hyun, Gang Dong-won plays Dong-soo, and Bae Doona appears as detective Su-jin, with IU as So-young and Lee Joo-young and Im Seung-soo also in the credited cast. The production involved Korean and Japanese companies and was made for around 8 million dollars, going on to take roughly 19 million dollars worldwide.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 7.1 from about 20,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2 from 572 votes. The critics' rating of 7.7 from 157 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores.
