Kiss the Ground is a documentary about soil and its potential role in addressing climate change. It presents regenerative agriculture, an approach to farming that its proponents argue can draw carbon out of the atmosphere, restore depleted water supplies and still produce enough food to feed the world. The film brings together activists, scientists, farmers and politicians who make the case for this method, warning that soil erosion has worsened dramatically since the invention of the plough and that environmental damage now threatens the planet's ability to sustain life as we know it.
Woody Harrelson narrates, and the film also features appearances by David Arquette, Gisele Bündchen, Rosario Dawson, Jason Mraz and Ian Somerhalder, alongside the agronomist Ray Archuleta. It was directed by Josh Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, who also wrote the screenplay with Johnny O'Hara. The Tickells produced it with Bill Benenson, and it was their first feature together before their later documentary Groundswell.
Released in September 2020, the film runs 85 minutes. It has found a sizable audience on IMDb, where it holds a strong rating across several thousand votes; on TMDB it is rated somewhat lower from a much smaller number of votes.
