Earth: One Amazing Day is a nature documentary that follows the sun across a single day, moving from the highest mountains to remote islands and tropical jungles. Along the way it observes a range of creatures, including iguanas, giant pandas, giraffes, penguins, a sloth and sperm whales, as well as the wildlife of the African savanna and the Arctic Ocean. The film presents these animals' daily struggles for food, shelter and mates, set against the wider natural world they depend on. It is a follow-up to the earlier BBC Earth Films production Earth and was directed by Peter Webber together with Richard Dale and Lixin Fan. Webber's earlier features include Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hannibal Rising and Emperor, while the screenplay was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Yan Geling. Robert Redford narrates the English-language version, with Jackie Chan and Lee Je-hoon providing narration for other markets. Released in 2017, the documentary runs 93 minutes and is aimed at a family audience. It took about 13 million dollars worldwide, a modest figure reflecting its niche theatrical reach rather than broad commercial appeal. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.8 from roughly 3,300 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7.7 from about 195 votes, indicating generally positive audience responses. A critics' rating of 6.7 from 21 reviews places it lower than the audience scores, suggesting reviewers were somewhat less enthusiastic than viewers.
