Enys Men is set in 1973 on a small, uninhabited island off the coast of Cornwall, where a volunteer with a wildlife trust spends her days recording observations of a rare flower growing near an old tin mine. Her task is to help keep the plant from disappearing, but the routine of her solitary work gradually breaks down. The island's past and her own perceptions begin to intrude on one another, and the line between what she is witnessing and what she is imagining becomes impossible to draw.
Mark Jenkin wrote and directed the film, following his 2019 feature Bait; Rose of Nevada came afterwards in 2026. Mary Woodvine plays the volunteer, with Edward Rowe as the boatman, Flo Crowe as the girl, John Woodvine as the preacher, Joe Gray as the miner and Loveday Twomlow as the baby. Denzil Monk produced, and Film4 Productions, Bosena and Sound/Image Cinema Lab were among the companies behind it.
The film runs 91 minutes and mixes drama, horror and mystery. On IMDb it holds 5.6 from around 4,400 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 from a much smaller sample. A critics' rating of 6.8 from 102 reviews places it noticeably higher with reviewers than with general audiences.
