The Catholic School

The film is set in Rome in 1975, where a well-known Catholic boys' school educates the sons of the upper middle class. Families believe this strict environment will protect their children from the turmoil shaking society and secure them bright futures. In the night of 29 to 30 September 1975, that sense of safety collapses when a brutal crime is committed by former students of the school. The story centres on Edoardo, a former pupil of the same institution, who tries to understand what drove young men raised in privilege toward blind violence, distorted political ideas and a craving for dominance. The film is based on Edoardo Albinati's prize-winning novel.

Stefano Mordini directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Massimo Gaudioso and Luca Infascelli. It is his third feature, following The Invisible Witness in 2018 and The Players in 2020, and preceding Race for Glory: Audi vs. Lancia in 2024 and The Lesson in 2026. The cast includes Benedetta Porcaroli, Giulio Pranno, Emanuele Maria Di Stefano, Giulio Fochetti, Leonardo Ragazzini and Alessandro Cantalini, among 47 credited performers. Roberto Sessa produced for Warner Bros Pictures Italia and Picomedia. Released in Italy in October 2021, the film took about 2 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 from roughly 4,200 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.2 from around 456 votes, a modest reception from audiences.
