Old Man

Old Man is an American horror-thriller about a hiker who gets lost in the woods and comes across a cabin belonging to a reclusive, erratic elderly man. Their first exchange seems civil, but the older man grows suspicious and holds the visitor at gunpoint, questioning him about who he is and how he came to be there. The two agree not to harm each other, yet the tension between them persists, and it gradually becomes apparent that at least one of them is concealing something frightening. The film is set largely in and around the isolated cabin, with Stephen Lang playing the old man and Marc Senter playing the hiker, Joe; Patch Darragh and Liana Wright-Mark appear in supporting roles.

Lucky McKee directed the film from a screenplay by Joel Veach, with Aaron B. Koontz, Cameron Burns and Ashleigh Snead producing. It was released in October 2022 and runs ninety-eight minutes. It belongs to a run of horror and thriller features McKee directed after May, The Woods, Sick Girl, Red, The Woman, All Cheerleaders Die, Tales of Halloween, Blood Money, Kindred Spirits and Deathcember, and it was his tenth fiction feature as director.

On IMDb, voters rate Old Man 4.9 out of 10 from around 3,800 votes, while its TMDB rating stands at 5.7 out of 10 from some 154 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 28 reviews places professional assessments at roughly the same level as the audience score on TMDB, and above the lower IMDb average.
