Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is an Indian action crime drama set in Khansaar, a fictional city-state. Varadha is the son of its ruler and stands to be named his successor, but ministers and advisers around his father plot against him, bringing in foreign mercenaries to attack the ruling family. Varadha escapes with his brother and a few trusted men and turns to Deva, a tribesman and his oldest friend, whose promise to stand by him draws him into the struggle to make Varadha the undisputed leader of Khansaar.
Prashanth Neel wrote and directed the film, which followed K.G.F: Chapter 1 and K.G.F: Chapter 2 and arrived before Dragon in his filmography. Vijay Kiragandur produced it through Hombale Films. Prabhas plays Deva, with Prithviraj Sukumaran as Varadha, Shruti Haasan as Aadya Krishnakanth, Easwari Rao as Deva's mother, Jagapati Babu as Raja Mannar and Bobby Simha as Bhaarava, among a credited cast of 35. It runs 175 minutes.
The film is part one of a larger story. Made for about 34 million dollars, it took roughly 43 million dollars worldwide, a modest return relative to its reported cost. Audiences were warmer than critics: on IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from around 78,000 votes and on TMDB 6.8/10 from 126, while the critics' rating stands at 5.5/10 from 22 reviews.
