How to Keep the Red Lamp Burning

This French-Italian comedy-drama is composed of three interconnected stories. The first segment focuses on a brothel owner forced to close his establishment following a 1946 legal decree, leading him to give the house's red lantern to one of his residents. The second part involves a legal trial after that lantern and other valuables are stolen from a baroness. The third story follows a lonely man whose life becomes more social and lively after he provides shelter to a woman and her colleagues.

The film was released in 1965 and was co-directed by Georges Lautner and Gilles Grangier. For Lautner, this was the second film in a career that included later works such as Death of a Corrupt Man and The Professional. Grangier had previously directed Hi-Jack Highway. The ensemble cast features Bernard Blier as the brothel owner Charles Labergerie, alongside Dominique Davray and Frank Villard. A total of 47 actors are credited in the production.
