Forever Rich

Forever Rich follows Richie, a Dutch rapper who has climbed to the top of the country's rap scene. His success is upended one evening when a group of teenagers violently rob him and take his most valued possession, an expensive watch. Footage of the encounter spreads online, and the ridicule that follows damages the image he has built for himself. To hold on to his career, Richie has to repair his reputation over the course of a long night.

The film was directed by Shady El-Hamus, who wrote the screenplay with Jeroen Scholten van Aschat. It was his first feature, released in 2021, ahead of his second film, Crypto Boy. Jonas Smulders plays Richie, with Daniël Kolf, Sinem Kavus, Hadewych Minis, Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing and Mustafa Duygulu among the supporting cast. It was produced by Femke Bennink and Annemieke van Vliet for Fiction Valley, and runs 89 minutes, mixing comedy, crime and drama.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.6 from around 1,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5 from 126 votes. The larger IMDb sample suggests a more divided response, with the smaller TMDB group rating it somewhat more generously.
