The Grissom Gang

Set in 1930s Kansas, The Grissom Gang follows a violent kidnapping scheme gone wrong. A gang snatches a wealthy young heiress, intending to collect a ransom for her, but the plan begins to unravel when their leader develops feelings for the captive woman. The Grissom family, led by Ma Grissom and her son Slim, is at the centre of the crime, and the growing attachment between Slim and the heiress threatens the unity of the group.

Robert Aldrich directed and produced the film, working from a screenplay by Leon Griffiths. It was released in 1971 and runs 128 minutes. Aldrich was an established filmmaker by this point: the film sits twelfth among the seventeen features he directed in chronological order, following The Dirty Dozen (1967) and preceding Ulzana's Raid (1972). The main cast includes Kim Darby as Barbara Blandish, Scott Wilson as Slim Grissom, Tony Musante, Robert Lansing, Connie Stevens and Irene Dailey, with 23 credited performers in total. It was produced by ABC Pictures, The Associates & Aldrich Company and Cinerama Releasing Corporation.
