Bingo Hell is set in Oak Springs, a barrio whose longtime residents, many of them elderly, are determined not to be pushed out by gentrification. Lupita, played by Adriana Barraza, holds the group together and treats her neighbors as family. When the community's cherished bingo hall is taken over by a mysterious businessman named Mr. Big, played by Richard Brake, the friends rally against him, only to find that what he offers is more dangerous than an ordinary property deal. The film is a horror-thriller about a neighborhood fighting for its survival against a force that trades in something beyond money.
Gigi Saul Guerrero directed, working from a screenplay by Shane McKenzie and Perry Blackshear. It was her third feature, following ABCs of Death 2 1/2 and Culture Shock, and it came before Satanic Hispanics, V/H/S/85, Jenni and The Boy with My Son's Face. The cast includes L. Scott Caldwell, Joshua Caleb Johnson, Clayton Landey and Jonathan Medina. It was produced by Ian Watermeier for Blumhouse Productions, Amazon Studios, Blumhouse Television and Luchagore Productions, and runs 85 minutes.
The film drew a 6.4 out of 10 from 37 critics' reviews, noticeably higher than its audience scores: 4.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 3,100 votes and 4.6 out of 10 on TMDB from 137 votes. Critics were therefore considerably more favorable toward it than general viewers.
