Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman

Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman is a horror thriller based on the early life of Aileen Wuornos, the Florida serial killer. In 1976, years before the murders that made her notorious, a young Aileen arrives in the state hoping to leave a troubled past behind. She marries Lewis Fell, a wealthy yacht club president, and gains entry into the local high society of Deland, Florida. The chance at a fresh start proves difficult to hold onto as her inner demons take over and violence spreads through the coastal community. Peyton List plays Aileen, with Tobin Bell as Lewis Fell, Lydia Hearst as Jennifer Fell, Nick Vallelonga as Victor Miller, Swen Temmel as Grady Miller and Andrew Biernat as Mitch Miller.

Daniel Farrands directed and wrote the film, and Lucas Jarach, Luke Daniels and Daniel Dávila produced it. It is the fifth of the six features Farrands directed according to the facts, arriving after The Amityville Murders (2018), The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019) and Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman (2021), which shares its naming pattern and true-crime subject matter. It followed its 2021 release, runs 86 minutes, and was made by Voltage Pictures, Redwire Pictures and 1428 Films.

The film drew a 3.9 rating on IMDb from around 2,400 votes and a 5.1 on TMDB from 88 votes, both indicating a largely unfavorable response, with the smaller TMDB sample somewhat warmer than the larger IMDb one.
