The Valet

A Hollywood star's attempt to contain a scandal drives the plot of this romantic comedy. Olivia, a well-known actress, is photographed by a paparazzi while out with Vincent, a married man. Antonio, a parking valet who happens to be in the same shot, is pulled into the situation and agrees to pose as her boyfriend so the story about Vincent does not surface. The arrangement brings Antonio, whose life has been far removed from celebrity circles, into sudden public attention, and the two leads must navigate the differences between them.

The film is directed by Richard Wong from a screenplay by Bob Fisher and Rob Greenberg, with Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell producing. Derbez plays Antonio opposite Samara Weaving as Olivia; Max Greenfield, Betsy Brandt, Marisol Nichols and Amaury Nolasco are among the supporting cast, which numbers thirty-three credited performers. It is a remake of a French comedy.

Released in May 2022, the film runs a little over two hours. On IMDb it holds a 6.7 out of 10 from around 19,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 7.5 out of 10 from a much smaller group of 686 voters. The critics' score stands at 6.4 out of 10 from 60 reviews, placing it close to the IMDb audience figure and below the enthusiastic TMDB sample.
