A Moment of Romance

A young member of a Hong Kong triad, Wah Dee, works as a getaway driver for a jewelry heist. When the job goes wrong, he grabs a passerby, Jo Jo, a student from a wealthy family, and uses her as a hostage to escape. He stops his accomplices from killing her, but because she has seen their faces, both the gang and the police keep coming after the pair. Despite the danger surrounding them, Wah Dee and Jo Jo begin a relationship that their different worlds and the people around them make difficult to sustain.

The film was directed by Benny Chan and was the first feature he directed, made in 1990, well before the later action films in his career. Andy Lau plays Wah Dee and Wu Chien-Lien plays Jo Jo, with supporting turns from Ng Man-tat, Tommy Wong Kwong-Leung, Bonnie Wong and Sandra Lang. James Yuen Sai-Sang wrote the screenplay, and Johnnie To produced.
