Slapface

Slapface is a horror film about a boy named Lucas who loses his mother and goes to live with his older brother, Tom, in a rural setting. Grief and isolation leave Lucas adrift, and Tom, unsure how to handle his younger brother, falls back on rough games rather than talking. Lucas finds no comfort at school either. When he learns of a local legend about a witch said to haunt the nearby woods, he seeks her out and forms a bond with the creature he finds there. The monster becomes a companion to the lonely boy, though its capacity for violence brings trouble down on the brothers, drawing the attention of the town sheriff.

Jeremiah Kipp directed and wrote the film, which sits between Contact and The Geechee Witch: A Boo Hag Story in his filmography as a director. August Maturo plays Lucas, with Mike C. Manning as Tom, Libe Barer as Anna, Mirabelle Lee as Moriah, and twins Bianca and Chiara D'Ambrosio as Donna and Rose. Manning also produced alongside Joe Benedetto and Artisha Mann-Cooper. The film runs eighty-six minutes and was made by Mirror Image Films, Chhibber Mann Productions and Artman Cooper Productions.

Released in 2022, the film took about two million dollars worldwide. Critics rated it noticeably higher than general viewers, with a critics' score of 7.1 out of 10 from thirty-three reviews, compared with 5.9 out of 10 on TMDB from sixty-nine votes. Reception on IMDb is more limited in volume.
