Tepepa

Tepepa is a Mexican revolutionary leader who refuses to accept the government that emerged from the revolution he helped win, and he keeps fighting alongside a small group of loyal followers against the forces of Colonel Cascorro. A British doctor, Henry Price, has his own reasons for wanting Tepepa alive: he believes the man was responsible for a past crime against someone close to him and intends to settle that score himself. Their paths cross repeatedly as Tepepa tries to reach the revolutionary president Madero, whom he once knew and trusted, while Cascorro closes in and the doctor's plans become entangled with the guerrilla's struggle.

The film was directed by Giulio Petroni and released in early 1969, following his westerns Death Rides a Horse and A Sky Full of Stars for a Roof. It was written by Ivan Della Mea and Franco Solinas, produced by Alfredo Cuomo, Nicolò Pomilia and Franco Clementi, and made in Spain and Italy. Tomas Milian plays Jesus Maria Moran, known as Tepepa, with Orson Welles as Colonel Cascorro, John Steiner as Doctor Henry Price, and supporting turns from Ángel Ortiz, José Torres and Luciano Casamonica. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from about 1,400 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6.5 from a much smaller number of votes. The two scores are close, suggesting a modest but steady reception rather than a sharply divided one.
