Asha and Ravi are two Indian-Americans facing intense pressure from their immigrant parents to marry. To avoid this demand during a summer filled with weddings, they agree to pretend they are dating. However, as they maintain the ruse, the two begin to develop genuine feelings for each other while trying to reconcile their own identities with the expectations of their families.
Directed by Tom Dey, this romantic comedy was released in 2022. It follows his previous projects, including Shanghai Noon, Showtime, Failure to Launch, and Marmaduke, and precedes his 2024 film JUMPMAN. The screenplay was written by Shiwani Srivastava and produced by Swati Shetty and John Rhodes. The film stars Pallavi Sharda as Asha Maurya and Suraj Sharma as Ravishankar Shah, with supporting roles played by Arianna Afsar, Sean Kleier, Veena Sood, and Rizwan Manji. This co-production between Canada and the United States was produced by Imagine Entertainment, Jax Media, and Samosa Stories.
Audience reception has been moderately positive. The movie holds a rating of 6.4/10 on IMDb based on 12,000 votes and a 6.3/10 on TMDB from 250 votes.
