Red Island

Set in Madagascar around the transition from the 1960s to the 1970s, this drama follows Thomas, a boy under ten years old. He lives on a French military air base during the final stages of colonialism. As Thomas reads stories about Fantômette, he begins to develop his own perspective on the society and the environment surrounding him.

The film was directed by Robin Campillo, who also wrote the screenplay with Gilles Marchand. In his filmography, this work follows The Returned and BPM. The cast is led by Charlie Vauselle in the role of Thomas, alongside Quim Gutiérrez, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Sophie Guillemin, Hugues Delamarliere, and David Serero.
