The Goldfinger

Set in Hong Kong during a period of British colonial rule, this crime drama follows the efforts of the Independent Commission Against Corruption to dismantle syndicates involving government officials. Senior Investigator Lau Kai-Yuen successfully exposes numerous corrupt figures, but he is soon drawn into a new conflict involving extreme greed and financial misconduct. The story examines the rise and fall of a corporate entity and its president over fifteen years, involving investigations into murder and massive financial losses.

The film was written and directed by Felix Chong Man-keung, following his previous work on Project Gutenberg. The cast is led by Andy Lau and Tony Leung Chiu-wai, with appearances by Charlene Choi, Simon Yam, Michael Ning, and Carlos Chan Ka-Lok. A total of 246 actors are credited in the production.

Produced by Emperor Motion Pictures and Tianjin Maoyan Weying Media, the movie had a budget of 45 million USD but earned 6 million USD at the worldwide box office.
