Texasville

Set in a small Texas town near Wichita Falls in the summer of 1984, Texasville revisits characters from an earlier generation's story as the community prepares for its centennial. Duane Jackson, once a high school football captain, is now deep in debt and drifting, married to a heavy-drinking Karla and involved with the wives of his friends. Jacy Farrow, the former homecoming queen, returns after years abroad and a career in acting, following the death of her son. Their old friend Sonny Crawford is withdrawn and causes concern among those close to him. With the local oil economy struggling, the townspeople expect Duane and Jacy to pick up their teenage romance where it left off.

Peter Bogdanovich directed and wrote the screenplay, producing with Barry Spikings. The film came nearly two decades after his early breakthrough features and followed Mask (1985) in his filmography. Jeff Bridges and Cybill Shepherd lead the cast as Duane and Jacy, joined by Annie Potts, Randy Quaid, Timothy Bottoms and Cloris Leachman.

Released on 28 September 1990, the film runs 123 minutes. Its production budget was 18 million US dollars, while its worldwide box office reached about 2 million, a wide gap between cost and return. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 62 votes, indicating a modest reception from those who have logged it.
