Short description
Set in 1974, The Assassination of Richard Nixon follows Sam Bicke, a furniture salesman whose personal and professional life has come apart. His marriage has ended, he has lost his job, and his brother has distanced himself, while a bank refuses him the loan he needs to start over. Searching for someone to hold responsible for his troubles, Bicke settles on President Richard Nixon and begins planning an attack on him. The story draws on real events.
Niels Mueller directed the film and wrote the screenplay with Kevin Kennedy. Sean Penn plays Bicke, with Don Cheadle as Bonny Simmons, Jack Thompson as Jack Jones, Mykelti Williamson as Harold Mann, Michael Wincott as Julius Bicke, and Naomi Watts as Marie Bicke. Alfonso Cuarón and Jorge Vergara are among the producers. The film runs 95 minutes and was made in Australia, Mexico, and the United States.
