Nanny

Nanny follows Aisha, a Senegalese woman who has come to New York City and taken a position caring for the young daughter of a wealthy white family living on the Upper East Side. As she works to build a new life and prepares for the arrival of the son she left behind in Senegal, she is drawn toward a hidden truth about the household, and unsettling visions begin to cross from her dreams into her waking life.

The film is a drama with horror elements, written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu. It is her second feature-length work, following her 2016 debut Flowers. Anna Diop plays Aisha, with Michelle Monaghan and Morgan Spector as the parents, Sinqua Walls as Malik, and Leslie Uggams and Rose Decker also in the cast. Jason Blum, Daniela Taplin Lundberg and Nikkia Moulterie produced, and the production involved Topic Studios, Stay Gold Features, Blumhouse Television and LinLay Productions.

Released in November 2022 and running 98 minutes, the film drew a critics' rating of 7 out of 10, notably higher than its audience scores of 5.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 9,100 votes and 5.3 out of 10 on TMDB from 243 votes. The gap suggests reviewers responded more strongly to the film than general viewers did.
