Problemista

Alejandro, an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador, is trying to get his unusual ideas taken seriously in New York City. When he loses his day job, his work visa nears its end, leaving him few options to remain in the country and pursue his dream. He takes a position assisting a volatile figure on the edges of the art world, a woman determined to stage an exhibition of her dying husband's work while clashing with nearly everyone around her.

The film is written and directed by Julio Torres, who also stars as Alejandro, and it is the first feature he directed, followed by Color Theories by Julio Torres. A Guide to Seeing the World. Tilda Swinton plays Elizabeth, with RZA, Isabella Rossellini, Catalina Saavedra and James Scully in supporting roles. Emma Stone, Dave McCary and Torres produced through Fruit Tree, alongside A24. The production had a budget of 12 million dollars and returned about 3 million worldwide, a modest result for a wide release.

On IMDb, viewers rate it 6.7 out of 10 from roughly 9,500 votes, while on TMDB it holds 6.8 from a much smaller sample of 172. A critics' rating of 7.4 from 137 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores, suggesting reviewers responded more warmly than general viewers did.
