Sundown

Sundown is a drama about a wealthy British family vacationing in Acapulco. Neil and Alice Bennett are at the center of the group, which also includes their younger relatives Colin and Alexa. When news of an emergency elsewhere interrupts the trip, the family's plans change abruptly, and long-simmering tensions among them come to the surface. The film examines the unraveling of a privileged family's ordered existence against the backdrop of a Mexican resort.

Michel Franco directed and wrote the screenplay, and produced the film with Cristina Velasco and Erendira Nuñez Larios. It was made as a co-production between Mexico, France and Sweden. In Franco's filmography it followed New Order and preceded Memory, standing between those two works in his sequence of features. Tim Roth plays Neil Bennett and Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Alice Bennett. The supporting cast includes Iazua Larios, Henry Goodman, Albertine Kotting McMillan and Samuel Bottomley. The running time is 82 minutes.

The film draws a split response. On IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 8,900 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from around 226 votes, while a critics' rating sits higher at 7.1 out of 10 from 118 reviews. That gap suggests reviewers responded more positively than the broader viewing public, though audience scores remain moderately favorable overall.
