Stay Still is a documentary that examines the tension between the living and the dead in a contested space. Hilton, who works as an unauthorized gravedigger, fears that a new settlement will occupy the land near the cemetery, leaving him with no room to bury the deceased. Meanwhile, Hilda and Cristina seek to secure their own homes by occupying the area. The proximity of the burgeoning settlement to the graveyard creates a situation where the dead seem to possess the stability and shelter that the living are fighting to obtain.
The film was directed by Joanna Lombardi and produced by Enid Pinky Campos, Hernán Musaluppi, and Juan G. Castro. It is a co-production involving companies from the Netherlands Antilles, the Netherlands, Peru, and Uruguay, including Latin Quarter, Cimarrón Cine, and El Árbol Azúl. With a runtime of 76 minutes, the documentary was released on August 10, 2024.
