An Unfinished Film

In January 2020, a film crew convenes at a hotel near Wuhan to resume production on a project that had been halted ten years prior. As they work to complete the movie, the arrival of a pandemic and the subsequent quarantine of cities create new obstacles. The team faces the challenge of being confined, with digital screens becoming their primary connection to the outside world, forcing the director to decide whether to stop production once again.

This documentary drama was directed by Lou Ye, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ma Yingli. It follows his previous work, including Suzhou River, Summer Palace, Love and Bruises, and The Shadow Play. The film was a joint production between Germany and Singapore, produced by Philippe Bober through Essential Filmproduktion and YingFilms. The cast features Qin Hao, Mao Xiaorui, Qi Xi, Liang Ming, Huang Xuan, and Zhang Songwen.
