Fruits Basket -prelude-

This animated drama follows the early life of Kyoko, a rebellious student who feels alienated from society and estranged from her parents. While struggling with her personal demons and involvement with a bad crowd, she meets Katsuya Honda, a student teacher. Despite his blunt personality, Katsuya sees through Kyoko's exterior, and their relationship helps her move past her mistakes to find love and happiness. This compilation film focuses on the history of Tohru's parents while incorporating new footage that takes place after the third season of the series.

Directed by Yoshihide Ibata, this was the first of two listed works in his career, followed by a 2025 short. The film features a voice cast including Miyuki Sawashiro as Kyoko Honda and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Katsuya Honda, with additional performances by Manaka Iwami, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Yuma Uchida. Produced in Japan by TMS Entertainment, avex pictures, and TMS Music, the movie has a runtime of 88 minutes.
