Invisible Nation is a documentary that examines the election and presidency of Tsai Ing-wen, the first woman to serve as Taiwan's head of state. Through direct access to the leader, the film explores her efforts to maintain Taiwan's democratic institutions and national identity while navigating intense geopolitical pressures from China and the United States during a volatile global climate.
Directed by Vanessa Hope, who also co-wrote the screenplay with David Henry, the film is a joint production between the United States and Taiwan involving Seine Pictures, Double Hope Films, and 100 Chapters. The documentary features Tsai Ing-wen appearing as herself, alongside other figures including Bi-Khim Hsiao, Freddy Lim, Michelle Kuo, Chu Chen, and Yu-jie Chen. The project was produced by Ted Hope, Ivan Orlic, and Cassandra Jabola. Released on May 31, 2024, the film has a total runtime of 85 minutes.
