The Key Game

Laura has been with Antonio for years when she begins to question whether the life she has is the one she wants. Into this uncertainty come Sergio, a former classmate, and his younger girlfriend Siena, whose arrival unsettles the group. Laura and her long-time friends Raquel and Cris persuade their husbands to join a game Siena suggests: everyone drops their keys into a bowl and draws at random, with each person spending the night at the home of whoever's keys they picked. Three couples take part without knowing where the experiment will lead them.

This Spanish comedy was directed by Vicente Villanueva, working from a screenplay by Sandro Halphen, Marta Buchaca and Patrick McGinley. It followed two earlier Villanueva comedies, Toc Toc in 2017 and When Brooklyn Met Seville in 2021, and came before The Tenderness and Desposados. The cast includes Eva Ugarte as Laura, Fernando Guallar as Sergio, Miren Ibarguren as Raquel, Tamar Novas as Quique, María Castro as Cris and Alina Nastase as Natasha.

The film made about 1 million dollars worldwide, a modest return, and drew mixed-to-negative audience scores: 4.9 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 1,500 votes, and 5.9 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller sample of 84. Both figures suggest limited enthusiasm among viewers.
