Short description

When their daughter is abducted by experienced kidnappers, the Jennings turn the tables on their seemingly fool-proof plan.

What's left behind the scenes

  • During the highway accident, Charlize Theron's character released a woman from the trunk of the overturned car and then ran toward the road, where she accidentally slipped. According to the director, the actress pushed through the pain and completed the entire scene, but once the director shouted 'Cut!', the severity of the injury became apparent, and she had to be hospitalized.
  • The film is dedicated to the memory of cinematographer Pyotr Sobochinsky (1958-2001), who died of a massive heart attack during filming.
  • The initial version of the script envisioned Abby suffering from diabetes; however, David Fincher's dramatic thriller 'Panic Room' (2002) was released first, in which the protagonist also had diabetes, so Abby had to be 'gifted' with asthma instead.
