The Little Polar Bear

This animated fantasy film follows Lars, a young polar bear who forms an unlikely friendship with a seal named Robbie. Their bond defies the traditional laws of the North Pole, which dictate that animals should only associate with their own kind. As they face disapproval from other polar bears, Lars and his companions embark on adventures to maintain their connection. The plot escalates when a large metallic vessel arrives and begins consuming the local fish supply, prompting Lars to travel far from home to save his friends and family.

The movie was produced in Germany and co-directed by Thilo Rothkirch and Piet De Rycker. This project represents the first of two listed films directed by De Rycker, followed by Elli and her Monster Team in 2024. The voice cast includes Mijail Verona as Lars, Jeanette Biedermann as Greta, and Anke Engelke as the mother polar bear.

With a worldwide box office of 15 million USD, the film reached a modest commercial audience. Viewers have given it a mixed to positive reception, earning a rating of 5.9/10 on IMDb from 887 votes and a 6.2/10 on TMDB from 50 votes.
