Harlem Nights

Harlem Nights is set in a Harlem nightclub, where Sugar Ray runs a profitable establishment with his adopted son and partner, Quick. Their success draws the attention of a powerful gangster, Bugsy Calhoune, who wants a share of the take and has a corrupt police detective, Phil Cantone, to help apply the pressure. Rather than give in, Sugar Ray and Quick decide to fight back against the gangsters and the police closing in on them.

The film was written and directed by Eddie Murphy, who also stars as Quick, with Richard Pryor playing Sugar Ray. Redd Foxx, Danny Aiello, Michael Lerner and Della Reese appear among a credited cast of 68. It was made by Paramount and Eddie Murphy Productions with a budget of 30 million dollars, and it took in about 61 million dollars worldwide.
