The Four Feathers

In 1884, Harry Faversham, a young officer in the British Army, resigns his commission just as his regiment is preparing to leave for the campaign in Sudan. His father, his friends and his fiancée take the decision as proof of cowardice, and four white feathers arrive as a public mark of shame. To clear his name, Harry travels to Africa and, disguised as an Arab, sets out to find the men who condemned him and help them.

The film is a new adaptation of the novel by A. E. W. Mason. Shekhar Kapur directed it after Elizabeth (1998), his second feature in the list, from a screenplay by Michael Schiffer and Hossein Amini. Heath Ledger plays Harry, with Wes Bentley, Kate Hudson, Djimon Hounsou, Alex Jennings and Michael Sheen among the credited cast of 52. Kapur followed it with Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007).

The production, a British, Moroccan and American co-production made for 35 million USD, returned about 30 million USD worldwide. On IMDb the film holds 6.5/10 from 37,000 votes and on TMDB 6.6/10 from 613 votes. A critics' rating of 5.6/10 from 147 reviews places it below both audience scores.
