Mars One

Set in Brazil, this drama follows a Black family from the lower middle class as they navigate their lives following the election of a far-right president. While the parents and children struggle to maintain their optimism under a political climate that opposes their values, internal tensions emerge. The father hopes his son will find success in soccer, though the boy secretly dreams of studying astrophysics and traveling to Mars. Meanwhile, the mother believes she has been cursed after an unexpected event, and the eldest daughter contemplates leaving home while dating another woman.

Gabriel Martins directed and wrote the film, which is the second of three listed works in his career, following Aliança and preceding On Behalf of My Son. The cast features Cícero Lucas, Rejane Faria, Carlos Francisco, and Camilla Damião. The movie was produced by André Novais Oliveira, Gabriel Martins, and Maurílio Martins.
