The Black Spider

Set in 13th-century Switzerland, this horror thriller follows Christine, a brave young midwife. To protect her community from the violence of the Teutonic Knights, she enters into an agreement with the devil. When a plague of spiders descends upon the village as punishment, the people turn against her. Christine transforms from a protector into a fugitive, struggling to resist a demonic power while facing those who wish her dead.

The film was directed by Markus Fischer, marking his second feature following Marmorera. It was produced by Judith Lichtneckert and written by Plinio Bachmann and Barbara Sommer. The cast features Lilith Stangenberg in the lead role of Christine, appearing alongside Anatole Taubman, Ronald Zehrfeld, Marcus Signer, Narantsogt Tsogtsaikhan, and András Sütö.

A joint production between Hungary and Switzerland, the movie was released on March 10, 2022. Audience reception has been mixed, with the film holding a 5/10 rating on IMDb based on 365 votes and a 4.7/10 rating on TMDB from 12 votes.
