The Innocent

Sylvie, a woman in her sixties, marries Michel, a former criminal, while he is in prison. Upon his release, the couple attempts to start a new life by opening a flower shop. However, Sylvie's son, Abel, is skeptical of Michel's intentions and fears he will return to a life of crime. Joined by his friend Clémence, Abel begins spying on his new stepfather to protect his mother, leading to an unexpected encounter that changes his perspective.

The film was directed by Louis Garrel, who also wrote the screenplay alongside Naïla Guiguet and Tanguy Viel. This was his second feature film following A Faithful Man. The movie stars Louis Garrel as Abel, Roschdy Zem as Michel, Noémie Merlant as Clémence, and Anouk Grinberg as Sylvie.
