Short description
On a remote coast of the Russian Arctic in a wind-battered hut, a lonely man waits to witness an ancient gathering. But warming seas and rising temperatures bring an unexpected change, and he soon finds himself overwhelmed.
What's left behind the scenes
- The director, producer, and editor of Evgeniya Arbugaeva's film said that being near thousands of walruses was quite frightening. Usually completely non-aggressive, walruses feel vulnerable on the shore. Any sudden sound or even a smell can scare them, so the use of clapperboards, generators, or batteries (even the smallest ones) near the haul-out during filming was strictly forbidden. The animals' cries, specifically the squeaks of newborns and the roaring of adults, were particularly unsettling.
