A Sacrifice

Ben Monroe, an American social psychologist, travels to Berlin to help investigate a disturbing case involving a secretive cult. He becomes absorbed in the inquiry, while his rebellious teenage daughter Mazzy falls in with a mysterious local boy who draws her into the city's underground party scene. The two strands of the story move toward each other, and when Mazzy is put in serious danger, Ben has to act quickly and not always by the book to reach her.

The film is directed by Jordan Scott, who also wrote the screenplay, and produced by Ridley Scott, Georgina Pope and Maximilian Leo. It is her third feature, following All the Invisible Children in 2006 and Cracks in 2009. Eric Bana plays Ben and Sadie Sink plays Mazzy, with Sylvia Hoeks, Jonas Dassler, Sophie Rois and Stephan Kampwirth in supporting roles. A co-production between Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and France, it runs 94 minutes and was released in June 2024.

Audience response has been muted: on IMDb it holds a rating of 5 out of 10 from around 7,400 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.5 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of 153 votes.
