Sissy

Cecilia is a social media influencer whose life looks perfect until a chance encounter with Emma, her former best friend from childhood. Emma invites her to a bachelorette weekend at a remote house, and Cecilia accepts. The gathering brings her face to face with Alex, the school bully who once made her teenage years miserable, and the old rivalry between them escalates into violence.

Sissy is an Australian comedy, drama, horror and thriller directed by Kane Senes and Hannah Barlow, who also wrote the screenplay. Senes and Barlow had previously collaborated on the films Exile and For Now, this being their third feature together. Hannah Barlow appears on screen as Emma, alongside Aisha Dee as Cecilia, Emily De Margheriti as Alex, Daniel Monks as Jamie, Yerin Ha as Tracey and Lucy Barrett as Fran. Jason Taylor, Lisa Shaunessy and John De Margheriti produced the film, which runs 102 minutes.

Released in 2022, the film drew a film critics' rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 75 reviews, noticeably higher than its audience scores: on IMDb it holds 6.1 out of 10 from around 9,600 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.1 out of 10 from 192 votes. That gap suggests reviewers responded more warmly to the film than general viewers did.
