Medusa Deluxe

Medusa Deluxe is a murder mystery set at a regional hairdressing competition. When one of the contestants is found dead before the judging can begin, the other stylists are left to work out who among them is responsible. As the competitors move through the venue's neon-lit corridors, long-held grievances and secrets surface, and the tight-knit world of competitive hairdressing begins to splinter under the pressure of suspicion. The film mixes comedy, drama, mystery and thriller elements.

The film was written and directed by Thomas Hardiman, working with producers Michael Elliott, Louise Palmkvist Hansen and Lee Groombridge. It was made in the United Kingdom and the United States, with BBC Film, the BFI, EMU Films and Time Based Arts among the production companies. The cast includes Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Timba, Clare Perkins as Cleve, Darrell D'Silva as Rene, Debris Stevenson as Etsy, Harriet Webb as Kendra and Heider Ali as Gac. It runs 101 minutes.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from around 2,400 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.1 out of 10, from a much smaller base of 59 votes. A critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 71 reviews places it slightly above those audience figures. The two audience scores agree closely with each other and with the critics' score, indicating a modest but consistent level of approval.
